Production on The Batman Part II has temporarily halted while its director, Matt Reeves, attends to a family matter, Warner Bros. and DC Studios confirmed. The studio expressed its support for the filmmaker and said it hopes to resume work soon, but did not specify how long the pause will last.
Reeves’s personal situation has not been detailed publicly. Nor has a change to the release schedule been announced: for now, the film remains set for February 18, 2028. Without information about the length of the suspension or the production schedule, it is not possible to determine whether there will be any consequences for that release.
A project with a release date that has already been postponed several times
The sequel to The Batman, released in 2022, has gone through various schedule changes. It was initially slated for release in 2025 and was moved several times; the current date was set for February 2028. Coverage attributes some of the earlier postponements to Hollywood strikes and the project’s extended development.
The new pause adds uncertainty to the planning, but it does not amount to a confirmed delay. The studio’s statement refers to a temporary suspension and an expectation of resuming soon, without providing dates for the restart.
Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne, alongside actors returning from the first film, including Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis. The announced cast also includes Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan. So far, no changes to the cast or release date have been announced.
