EGA Master recognized for its international reach
EGA Master has received the DHL Atlas Grand Prize for Exporting at the 11th edition of the awards, held at the Royal Tapestry Factory in Madrid. The manufacturer of tools and solutions for industrial sectors, based in Álava, was recognized for its export track record and market diversification.
According to information released by DHL Express, 86% of the company’s revenue comes from international markets, and its commercial presence extends to 156 countries. The company has pursued an export strategy for more than 35 years. DHL also highlights its innovation activity: it reports more than 200 patents and models, and annual investment in R&D&I equivalent to between 6% and 7% of revenue.
EGA Master CEO Aner Garmendia attributed the company’s competitiveness to differentiation and added value. He also pointed to the importance of logistics in delivering what customers need at the right time. As advice for other companies, he advocated perseverance, patience and seeking out features that set their offering apart.
Four categories, different paths to exporting
The other awards recognize internationalization models linked to technology, sustainability and e-commerce. The Valencian company Matteco won the Most Innovative Export award for its technology for producing renewable hydrogen. DHL states that its solutions are marketed in Europe, North America and Asia, and that more than 65% of its revenue is linked to exports.
Etikids received the Most Sustainable Export award. The company develops personalized products and, according to information from DHL, has introduced environmental and social measures, including compostable materials, renewable energy and inclusion initiatives. The jury also recognized its social impact and its diversity and equal-opportunity policies.
The E-Commerce Export award went to Copykrea, an online printing company from León. In three years, it has expanded its operations to 32 markets from a production center in León; more than 75% of its revenue comes from international sales, according to DHL. Its CEO, Héctor Rubio Fidalgo, highlighted the team’s role and described logistics as an integrated part of the digital business.
Lady Pipa, a Madrid-based fashion brand, received a special mention for its international track record and contribution to Spanish exports.
Recognition of the ability to adapt
According to information released by DHL Express, 109 companies took part in this edition, submitting 157 entries. The selection process considered factors such as growth, expansion, investment, financial strength, innovation and sustainability.
Miriam Gagna, CEO of DHL Express Iberia, said that Spanish companies are adapting to changes in international trade flows and markets. Juan Luis Gimeno Chocarro, Director General for Economic and Commercial Intelligence at the State Secretariat for Trade, noted that international trade offers opportunities, but that the conditions under which it takes place are changing and external action must adapt.
As part of the recognition, EGA Master will be able to take part in an overseas trade mission organized by a Chamber of Commerce, according to information published about the awards. The prize highlights different strategies for competing outside Spain: diversifying markets, developing innovative products, incorporating sustainability criteria and adapting the digital experience to each destination.
