Mutua Ventures takes a stake in Alter5
Mutua Madrileña has acquired a 10% stake in Alter5 through Mutua Ventures, the insurance group’s investment vehicle for innovative businesses. The transaction aims to boost the platform’s business and technological development, as well as accelerate its expansion plans.
Founded in 2021 by Salvador Carrillo and Miguel Solana, Alter5 applies artificial intelligence to capital markets and institutional investment. Its platform operates in two areas: corporate financing for SMEs and mid-sized companies, and financing for renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
Corporate financing and real-asset projects
Alter5 identifies projects seeking financing, structures the transactions, and distributes the investment among institutional investors. According to information published about the company, since its launch it has originated and distributed more than €300 million in financing and equity for corporate transactions and related projects in areas including renewable energy, energy storage, mobility, and data centers.
The company presents its technology as a way to facilitate the origination and distribution processes for these transactions. Miguel Solana, co-founder of Alter5, said the platform enables financial institutions to expand their alternative financing capacity without having to build their own technological infrastructure. This description reflects the company’s assessment and does not constitute an independent measurement of its results.
Shareholding and financial position
Following the transaction, the founders retain, according to El Confidencial, 65% of the share capital. Mutua becomes the third-largest shareholder, with 10%, while the remaining 25% is held by family offices and other corporate and individual investors.
RankiaPro reports that Alter5 has recorded positive EBITDA and profit since early 2025 and operates without assuming balance-sheet risk in the transactions it structures. Andrés Sánchez, head of Corporate Venture Capital at Mutua Madrileña, also highlighted the company’s profitability and business model when explaining the investment. These are figures and assessments attributed to the sources and their representatives; on their own, they do not allow future results to be predicted.
Mutua’s investment expands Mutua Ventures’ portfolio and provides shareholder backing for Alter5’s growth plans. The available information does not specify the investment amount or the transaction’s financial terms.
