Tikehau Capital is expanding its partnership with iCapital by adding a European private credit strategy to iCapital Marketplace. The initiative aims to make this type of investment accessible to wealth managers in eligible markets across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) through iCapital’s digital platform.
An ELTIF focused on senior secured debt
The strategy is domiciled in Luxembourg, denominated in euros and structured as a European long-term investment fund (ELTIF). It is evergreen, meaning that it has no predetermined maturity date. According to information released by the companies, it invests primarily in first-lien senior secured debt issued by European companies.
The evergreen label does not, in itself, mean that investors can withdraw their capital at any time. Subscription and redemption terms depend on the fund documentation, which is not detailed in the announcement. The available information also does not specify which EMEA countries can access the strategy: distribution is limited to markets considered eligible.
The ELTIF 2.0 format is part of the revision of the European rules for these funds, which has been in force since January 2024. This regulation expanded the possibilities for accessing ELTIFs, but does not remove the risks inherent in investing in private assets or guarantee liquidity or returns.
The platform digitizes operations and services
The partnership between Tikehau and iCapital began in 2022. Since then, iCapital’s technology has supported processes such as subscriptions, investor onboarding and the management of investments throughout their life cycle. With the addition of this strategy, the firms are expanding their collaboration to include distribution through iCapital Marketplace, which is aimed at wealth managers and other financial professionals.
Thomas Friedberger, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Tikehau Capital, said that the expansion brings the manager’s European private credit expertise closer to EMEA wealth managers. He also suggested that ELTIF 2.0 structures can help broaden access to private market strategies. Jocelyn Pidoux, Head of Asset Manager Solutions for EMEA at iCapital, said that wealth managers are looking for more effective ways to incorporate private credit into their clients’ portfolios.
These statements express the companies’ views on the product’s usefulness and distribution potential; they do not demonstrate investment results or eliminate its risks. The published information does not provide full details on costs, liquidity terms or eligibility criteria, so these aspects should be checked in the strategy’s official documentation.
