bp launches Fuel & Charge to unify fleet refuelling and charging

The solution combines a card, mobile app and management platform for mixed fleets. bp says it provides access to more than 2,500 refuelling stations in Spain and around 25,000 charging points.

bp has announced Fuel & Charge, a solution for managing fuel refuelling and electric charging for business fleets in one environment. It is designed for combustion-engine, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles, and brings together a card, a mobile app and a digital management platform, according to the company.

According to bp, the launch responds to the need to manage fleets with different technologies without relying on separate systems for fuel and electricity. Gian-Alessandro Ungarelli, bp Spain’s fleet manager, said the tool is intended to make it easier to manage this mix and centralise vehicles’ energy needs.

Card, app and management in a single solution

The card provides access to the refuelling and charging services included in the solution. The bp Fuel & Charge Mobile app helps users locate charging points and, according to the company, lets them check availability, filter by power, connector type or vehicle compatibility, and start and end charging sessions from their phone.

The digital platform centralises information on fuel consumption and charging sessions. bp also says it includes reporting, unified billing and card management features, enabling fleet managers to review consumption and manage operations.

Refuelling and charging coverage reported by bp

In Spain, bp says it has more than 700 company-owned stations and an affiliated network that brings the total to more than 2,500. For refuelling in Europe, the company says it has more than 30,000 stations in 32 countries.

For electric charging, bp reports access to around 25,000 points in Spain, of which approximately 9,500 are said to be fast or ultra-fast. Coverage includes points operated by Iberdrola | bp pulse and other partner operators; it therefore does not correspond exclusively to a bp-owned network. The joint venture, which operates in Spain and Portugal, has more than 2,500 charging points, nearly 70% of them ultra-fast, according to figures provided by the company.

Rates and terms, aspects not yet specified

The announcement describes the solution’s features and coverage, but does not specify the rates applicable to fuel or electricity, or the contractual terms. Nor does it, on its own, make it possible to determine the actual availability of each point or the cost for a particular fleet. The unification of tools and data is bp’s stated objective; the operational and financial results will depend on the service terms and how each company uses it.
