Ondo Finance is expanding its tokenized-asset offering with Ondo Private Markets, a platform for notes linked to the value of companies that are not yet publicly listed. The first offering references a pre-IPO artificial intelligence company whose name has not been disclosed. Ondo expected the note to begin trading that week, according to information published on October 6, 2026; that expectation alone does not confirm that trading has begun.
Economic exposure, not ownership of the company
The instruments are tokenized notes, not shares in the reference companies. According to Ondo’s description, their payments will be linked to the realized value per common share when a qualifying liquidity event occurs. Therefore, the token provides economic exposure under the terms of the note, but does not make its holders shareholders: it grants no direct ownership, voting rights, or other corporate rights in the underlying company.
The AI company has also not been publicly identified in the available materials. The full terms of the note, the valuation method, and the specific events that would trigger payments have not been detailed there. These elements are relevant to understanding how the economic reference would translate into an outcome for the holder.
Trading planned 24 hours a day, with restricted access
Ondo plans to allow eligible investors to hold the tokens in self-custody wallets and trade them on secondary markets 24 hours a day. Continuous trading describes the planned availability of those markets, but does not guarantee that buyers and sellers will be available at all times or that an investor can sell at the price or within the timeframe they want.
The offering is aimed at eligible investors outside the United States and is subject to geographic restrictions. Accordingly, the fact that an asset can be transferred through blockchain infrastructure does not mean that anyone can acquire it: access depends on the conditions applicable to the product and to each jurisdiction. Sources describe this offering as separate from Ondo’s U.S. activity; it should not be confused with other company services that operate under different structures.
An expansion beyond public markets
With Ondo Private Markets, the firm is adding exposure linked to private companies to its financial-asset tokenization business. Ondo has said it plans to explore notes associated with sectors such as robotics, cybersecurity, biotechnology, and infrastructure, but has not provided dates or identified companies for these potential future offerings.
The proposal offers an alternative to directly purchasing private shares: investors obtain exposure under the terms of an issued note, without participating in the capital of the referenced company. For companies evaluating tokenization solutions, the launch illustrates both the possibility of trading instruments on blockchain networks and the importance of distinguishing between technology transfer, economic rights, and legal ownership. Effective liquidity, contractual terms, and access restrictions remain central aspects of the product.
